Best Summer Book : Fitness Junkie

I love nothing more than diving into a fun summer book while I’m lounging by the pool or lake watching the kids play.  It’s one of my absolute FAVORITE things to do during the warm, lazy days of summer.  I found one recently that I’ve almost finished {I haven’t been able to set it down!} and it’s a really fun, entertaining, easy read that I think you’ll really enjoy.

It’s called Fitness Junkie by Lucy Sykes and Jo Piazza. It follows Janey Sweet’s experience navigating life {with no job} in NYC. She gets unexpectedly put on immediate hiatus from her high profile job because of her “weight gain”. The hilarity ensues as she works her way through all of the crazy fitness and diet regimes that exist in the bustling city that is New York.

There are a few love interests, hilarious friends, and an abundance of funny moments.  It’s one of those books that’s not necessarily suspenseful in the normal sense of the word, but YOU. CAN’T. SET. IT. DOWN.

You HAVE to find out what happens to Janey…even if that means staying up into the wee hours of the night..oops. The authors did an amazing job of making her super relatable, you feel like you’re right there with her.

Overall, it really is the perfect read pool side, at night before bed, while waiting in the carpool line…anywhere really.  I’ve been throwing it in my purse and have enjoyed catching up on my reading while getting my weekly blowout.  It’s SO relaxing and gives me a chance to just totally zone out from the daily grind.  We all need times like that to keep sane I think.

Do you guys have any favorite books that you read this Summer? I like both non-fiction and fiction. I try to switch between the two…one that I learn something from and one that is just good fun. I’m always down for a good suspenseful thriller too…Girl On The Train anyone?

Try out Fitness Junkie for a good laugh and a lot of fun….especially if you’ve dabbled in a weekly cleanse, food delivery service, crazy fitness class, etc. You will definitely be able to feel for Janey.

Let me know if you like it!

XOXO – Sara
