3 Tips to Fall Asleep Faster

Let’s face it, we’ve all had those nights where we just couldn’t fall asleep no matter what we did.  That’s the worst feeling in the world, especially when your exhausted and no you have to get up early the next day.  I’m going to share my top three tips for falling asleep quickly.  My husband has the ability to fall asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow…I’m not that lucky.  The following three things really do help me wind down enough to fall fast asleep in no time.

Bath Before Bed.

Taking a nice, relaxing, hot bath before bed is one of my absolute favorite things to do…it’s even better if I add a glass of rosé to the equation.  It really helps calm the body, mind, and spirit down enough to be ready for a good night’s sleep.  This one doesn’t always happen though because my night’s can get a little crazy with the kiddos, but I try to squeeze it in whenever possible.  I notice a definite difference when I take a bath vs when I don’t, so I know that it works.

Hot Lemon Water or Bedtime Tea.

This is another great tip.  Make yourself a cup of hot water with lemon or a hot tea {make sure it’s caffeine-free!} and drink in bed while relaxing.  I’ll usually read for a bit or catch up on my favorite series when the kids are in bed.  It’s the perfect time to enjoy it and there’s just something about drinking a warm drink that can make you nice and sleepy.  It does the trick every time.

Mindless Activity.

I always like to do something that doesn’t require a lot of thinking or brain activity right before falling asleep.  My favorite thing to do is to turn my iphone background light really low and scroll through my Instagram Feed.  Now this may sound weird to some, but just looking at picture after picture is kind of like counting sheep if you think about it.  You don’t have to think about anything and it really does the trick.  Facebook would work for this as well, but there can be more drama on there, so that’s why I stick to the Gram.

These are my three favorite things to do.  They are pretty basic, but they WORK.  If you’re like me and have a harder time drifting off, then give these a try.  Let me know if they help or if you have a trick that really helps you fall asleep quickly.  I HATE feeling drowsy or tired the next day from lack of sleep, so this is a very important subject to me.

Today was a busy day because tomorrow is Rosh Hashanah which is the Jewish New Year for those of you that don’t know.  I prepared a big dinner for my family tonight complete with pomegranate seeds and plenty of apples with honey.  It’s going to be a SWEET year for the Kohll family!  Shanah tovah to all of my Jewish friends…may you have the sweetest year yet.

**Due to the High Holiday tomorrow, I will not be posting again until Monday.  I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week/weekend.

XOXO – Sara
